Quick curls with Flexi Rods

We all want to get ready and be on our way as fast as we can every morning. It’s usually more demanding for us ladies because we have to look well put together before stepping out there. For those with children, you have to fix them up, then fix yourself up.  If you are like me, you want your hair to  look good too.

I don’t get enough time to visit the hair salon often so I developed the habit of getting it done myself. I will like to share with you a quick method of curling your hair without wasting much of your time . You will still look as fabulous as if a professional did it for you.

Curling my hair with a straightener was difficult for me, so I bought some Flexi rods from AMAZON  . I must add that it was a good decision. These rods get the job done easily . It takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to roll my hair with them and sometimes I take them down after 30 minutes.

Flexi Rods

Some come in a pack of 10 rods and some packs have more or less rods. They vary in size and color so make sure to buy the size you need. You can mix them up if you like, that way you have a wider range of style to achieve. I have tried the big, medium and small sizes.

  • To achieve the tight spiral curls, use the small rods and if you are going for the kinky look, use the smallest rods. This means that you have to use a lot of them for the required result.
  • To achieve the medium  curls, use the medium rods .
  • To achieve the wavy and loose curls, use the big rods. Six to eight of them give you a good result.

I usually go for the wavy curls because , first, I love  loose and wavy curls. Second, it requires only a few minutes of rolling  six to eight flexi rods up my hair to achieve the look. CLICK HERE  TO GET YOUR FLEXI RODS.

 How to use Flexi Rods

  1. Wash your hair with your regular shampoo and conditioner. ( Note that you can use flexi rods without washing your hair).
  2. Towel dry your hair and comb it.
  3.  Divide your hair into two sections when it’s still damp.
  4. Hold one section with a hair band.
  5. Start working on the other section. Take a very small section of hair, apply your hair product , add a little amount of mousse (this is optional) and  comb.
  6. Take your flexi rod and start rolling from the bottom to secure the tip of your hair, roll it all the way to the root and fold the end of the flexi rod.
  7. When you are done with that section, repeat the same thing on the section held with the hair band.
  8. Blow dry your hair if in a hurry but, if you are doing this the night before, air dry it. Tie a silk scarf on your head before going to bed.
  9. If you rolled your already dry hair with flexi rod, you can unravel each flexi rod carefully after 30 mins or more depending on how much time you’ve got.
  10. It helps to roll your hair at night so that all you do in the morning is to take down the flexi rods and style.
  11. Remember to use the same technique for both wet and dry hair.
  12. Separate each curl and style as  you desire.

I used only six flexi rods in this picture because I wanted loose curls. It took me only 5 mins to roll my hair and I  took the rods down after 30 mins because my hair was already dry. You can use these rods  to style your hair the way you desire. So, what are you waiting for? Go get yours, and remember, you can get any hair product you need at  AMAZON.

  3. I saw this on Shark Tank and told my girlfriend about it and of course she asked me to get more info on it, so I am glad I found your Review site, so she can make an informed decision about the product. Thank you for the in depth review. This looks like a no brainer. She will definitely get those. It looks so incredibly simple to create ! Much appreciated, Stella !

    • Thank you for the comment Rico. I hope your girlfriend tries the method as it will save her the time and cost of going to a professional when she wants to get her hair done. The process is very easy but what I like most about it is the time it saves me. Thank you once again and do come back for more.

  4. wow I’m guessing same application can go for natural hair yea? since one can mousse the hair or spray in hair holder like its done on d weave on or hair piece…well done Stella! this can come in handy for me on a bad hair day.

    • Yes Jackie, the same application works for natural hair. That is why I like the Flexi Rods so much, there is no bad hair day with this product.

  6. These sound just what I am looking for. I have medium length hair and want to find something as an alternative to my curling rod because it damages my hair. I think the medium rods would be best to try first. Can you tell me where is the best place to get them from please?

    • Hello Karen, you are right curling hair with a curling rod exposes the hair to too much heat which may end up damaging the hair. Flexi rods are a good replacement and your hair is free from damage. You can purchase them from Amazon. Thank you for visiting my site.

  7. To think that i got these tips from you now is just perfect. I am so busy that i don’t go to the salon as often as i would want, so this is welcoming. Good job.

    • I am glad that you found them at the right time. Flexi rods will save you the time and cost of going to the salon. Thank you for visiting my site.

  8. Hi, Stella.
Do you recommend any cream or conditioner for using the Flexi Rods? I do not like to dry my hair with a dryer, do they work on wet hair? What other ideas do you have for a long time, my hair is straight and rebellious
Great article and thank you for the tips.

    • Hi TG AE, I use PANTENE hair shampoo and conditional but any product will be fine too.  After washing your hair, towel dry it until damp then you start the process. You can do it the night before and take the rods down in the morning, that way you don’t need a dryer.

  9. Wow! You always give useful tips, my wife is so happy to see this easy method of curling the hair. She has heard about it before now but did not know how to use them or where to get them. Thanks for teaching us.

  10. Stella, this is all I use to roll my hair up before bed. They are definitely more comfortable to sleep on than the old-fashioned hardened rollers. I will your give method a try. Finally talked my mom into using the flex rollers instead of the hard ones. She likes them and find it much easier to bring the tightness of the curl she prefers.
Thank you for this great tip.

    • Hi Phildora, thank you for visiting this site. It’s feels good to hear another lady recommend the flexi rods. They are very easy and comfortable to use, it’s the way to go.
